As well as helping the disabled and disadvantaged children in the local community the Kitega Community Centre has become an administration, training and conference centre for a much wider community.
To cater for these needs a new kitchen block has been built to replace the previous open air cooking facilities.  With its efficient wood-burning stoves and storage room this now helps the children and staff and also provides a source of income by preparing and selling food to the wider community.
It is also a great help when conferences and special events are held at the Centre - especially the Christmas Party when 600 people join in celebrations at the Centre.

A new ‘Shalom’ accommodation centre was completed in 2013 to house some of the children and provide accommodation for many of the international volunteers the centre receives each year.  It is also being used to house students at training courses run by the centre and for delegates attending various conferences.
